English < > Spanish Transcription and Translation

The transcription and translation of audio and video material, which is a longer process than that of mere translation, is carried out in two phases: during the first phase, translators watch or listen to the recorded material and write down -transcribe- the spoken content; during the second phase, the transcribed material is translated into the target language(s).

The duration of transcription and translation projects varies in accordance with several factors, including the nature and the sound quality of the source material. As a general rule, we require approximately one hour to transcribe five minutes of original Spanish or English source material, to which the corresponding translation time must be added.

English < > Spanish Subtitling

The creation and addition to or the translation of subtitles for audiovisual material, including video, dvd, advertising and promotional material, in-flight videos, news items and in-company training material, and the adaptation of language captions for the deaf or hard-of-hearing.

Given the inherent space and time constraints involved in when working with audiovisual material, the translation of subtitles varies considerably from the translation of "standard" written text, resulting in a final product that may sometimes be considered as more of an "adaptation" than a translation in the strictest sense.

English < > Spanish Dubbing / Voiceover

Dubbing or voiceover: the replacement or overlaying of voices for audiovisual material. Unlike transcription, translation and subtitling, dubbing is carried out in recording facilities and requires the intervention of actors and qualified sound technicians. Dixon Servicios Lingüísticos, SL, works in close collaboration with trusted recording facilities with whom we co-ordinate the dubbing process in order to offer a one-stop audiovisual translation solution: our in-house translation team carries out the transcription, translation and subtitling phases, whilst our voice specialists and experienced engineers complete the dubbing process.
